Right now, Utica College plans to monitor vaccine Right now, Utica College plans to monitor vaccine rollout and make decisions about whether or not to require its students to receive a vaccine for the fall semester.

Although exact numbers weren’t provided, the college first administered the J&J vaccine last month, with what was believed to be around 240 people receiving the shot. From there, the college has offered the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in Strebel and the Burrstone House.

Some students, however, remain on the fence about getting the vaccine, and they’re not alone. About 25% of the country plans to not receive the vaccine, another 5% are still undecided.

The Health and Wellness Center has reopened some o The Health and Wellness Center has reopened some of its doors until the end of the semester. The nurse station has been reopened for walk-ins, yet counseling sessions will still be handled in a virtual setting.

The news comes after the center remained closed for much of this academic year.
Will the legalization of marijuana in New York cha Will the legalization of marijuana in New York change anything on campus? Short answer: no.

“At this time, we have no specific plans to change our Code of Conduct as it relates to marijuana,” said Shad Crowe, the vice president for emergency management.

Some students think change could happen pending federal legalization. Others have ideas of how UC could incorporate this in a safe manner on campus.

“The smoking areas for marijuana may be closer to the dorms rather than the academic side of campus to prevent students who don’t want to get high to avoid it.”
