The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins reassigned defenseman David Breazeale to their ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades, the team announced Wednesday. The move came two days before Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is scheduled to visit the Utica Comets.
Breazeale began the season with Florida, appearing in two games and recording no points. The Everblades won both contests. He now returns to the club where he spent part of the 2026 postseason.
Breazeale’s professional and college record
The 26-year-old defenseman played nine regular-season games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season as a rookie, then added two appearances in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Across his 11 regular-season games with the Penguins, he has recorded four points, with one goal and three assists, along with 10 penalty minutes.
Breazeale also spent the entire 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Wheeling Nailers. Wheeling reached the Eastern Conference Final before losing to Florida. Breazeale recorded two assists in 17 postseason games during that run.
Before turning professional, Breazeale completed his senior season at the University of Maine. As the Black Bears’ captain, he helped the program win its first Hockey East Championship in 21 years. He finished his college career with 51 points — eight goals and 43 assists — in 144 games.
- Florida: two games this season and no points
- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton: four points in 11 career regular-season games
- Wheeling: two assists in 17 games during the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs
Penguins set for Utica visit
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is scheduled to play the Comets at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Adirondack Bank Center. The game is the next meeting listed for the Penguins and Comets.
The teams are also scheduled to meet Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza. That game is designated as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s first Winning Weekday promotion of the season, with a free ticket to a later midweek Penguins home game planned for attendees if the Penguins win.
