Vice President JD Vance will visit Rome on Monday, Nov. 2, to campaign for Republican congressional candidate Anthony Constantino, according to Constantino’s campaign.
Vance is scheduled to headline a get-out-the-vote rally at Skydome in Rome, with the program set to begin at 9:15 a.m. Doors will open at 7 a.m. for ticketed attendees. The visit comes one day before New York’s general election on Nov. 3.
Constantino, who lives in Edinburg and owns the Amsterdam-based printing company Sticker Mule, is running against Democrat Blake Gendebien for the seat in New York’s 21st Congressional District. The seat is being vacated by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, a Republican who has represented the district for six terms.
“I am very excited to host Vice President JD Vance in Rome on Monday, and look forward to seeing lots of our supporters there,” Anthony Constantino said.
Constantino also urged Republicans, independents and Democrats who support his campaign to vote for him. His campaign’s statement included criticism of Gov. Kathy Hochul and said Constantino would seek to retain the congressional seat for Republicans.
Race for the open seat
Gendebien is a farmer from Lisbon in St. Lawrence County. The race has drawn national attention because of the district’s recent Republican voting history and the departure of Stefanik, who has been a close ally of President Donald Trump.
Stefanik carried the district by 24 percentage points in 2024, while Trump carried it by 21 percentage points that year. The district also reelected Stefanik five times, according to the campaign information published by the Observer-Dispatch.

Polling cited in the coverage has shown a close contest. A Siena Poll released Oct. 9 put Gendebien ahead, 45% to 42%, while a Public Policy Polling survey released Oct. 13 showed Constantino leading, 46% to 44%.
Trump endorsed Constantino in a video posted to Facebook on Oct. 29. Trump also appeared at a rally in Syracuse earlier in October, where Constantino delivered a speech. Vance’s Rome appearance will place the vice president in the district during the final day of campaigning before voters decide the open seat.
