DC’s new release Clayface reclaimed the top spot at the U.S. box office this weekend with an estimated domestic opening of $24 million, industry trackers reported. That total fell slightly short of the studio’s early projection range of $25 million to $30 million, but combined with about $19 million in international receipts it gave the film a solid start against a reported production budget of $44 million.

box-office context

The weekend marked a shift after a relatively muted opening for Supergirl the prior frame. Clayface’s results leave it closer to breaking even than some recent tentpoles, given its modest budget.

  • You Can See Everything, the documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, continued to perform strongly in its expanded run, adding an estimated $19 million domestically in its second week and bringing its U.S. total to about $45 million. The film opened in roughly 1,800 additional theaters and remained the top per-theater grosser in the top 10.
  • Wildwood, the stop-motion feature, opened in third place with an estimated $11.6 million, a notable debut for a format that often plays to niche audiences. The film’s production cost has been reported at around $100 million.
  • Other new and holdover titles included Street Fighter at fourth and Wicker at fifth with about $5.75 million in a limited release.

Box Office Mojo’s weekend rankings showed the top 10 as: Clayface; You Can See Everything; Wildwood; Street Fighter; Wicker; HYBE Cine Fest 2026; Other Mommy; Sense and Sensibility; Whalefall; and Verity.

The early returns suggest a varied marketplace this season, with a midbudget superhero thriller, a surprise-performing documentary and a high-cost animated project all sharing the top slots. Studios will watch Clayface’s week-to-week holds and overseas performance as it seeks to move beyond its production costs and toward profitability.

Final weekend tallies and updated theater counts are expected later this week when official weekend grosses are compiled.
