Utica volleyball falls to Hamilton in straight sets

The Utica College women’s volleyball team lost in three sets to Hamilton College last night.

The Pioneers fell short the first set losing 25-14. The team had a good start for the second set coming out with a 6-2 lead, but the Continentals went on and won the second set 25-14. The third set was more of the same with the Pioneers losing 25-9.

Despite the loss, the Pioneers junior class worked hard. Nicole Herringshaw led the Pioneers with five kills and three blocks. Hannah Voss had three kills, two aces and 14 digs. Marissa Faroni also had five assists for the pioneers.

The Pioneers will play two Empire 8 conference games this weekend against Alfred University and Nazareth College. Alfred University is 5-19 overall and 3-3 in conference. The game will be held at Nazareth at 1:30 p.m.

Utica will then take on the host Nazareth College at 4 p.m. who is currently 14-9.
