As of March 2017, there are 2.2 million apps on the Apple App store and 2.8 million apps on Google Play. With all those apps, most students probably have a favorite app to turn to when they’re bored or want a distraction from homework.
Junior Emily Fales’ favorite app is Spotify for the iPhone. Fales has had Spotify since high school, but she used the free version of the app at first. She uses it on a daily basis, because she doesn’t have any other music on her phone.
“I like Spotify better because for like $10 a month, I can get a lot more music than buying one song on iTunes for $2,” Fales explained.
Fales said that she started paying for Spotify because the app only gives you four skips per hour. She used to close the app and open it up again to have four more skips right away, but the app updated to prevent that from happening.
Junior Carly Tebolt’s favorite app is Tumblr. She goes on the website when she wants to see new blog posts.
“I go on Tumblr for enjoyment,” she said. “My second favorite app would probably be Snapchat, but I really only go on that when I’m bored.”
Tebolt has had a Tumblr since she was a freshman in high school. She currently has three blogs on the app.
