The Utica College women’s soccer team earned their first win of the season Saturday afternoon in a non-conference showdown against the Lady Bulldogs of DeSales University by the score of 1-0.
DeSales University had come into the contest undefeated but that was no issue for the Lady Pioneers.
There was no score until the 68:46 mark of the contest when freshman defender Amanda Thut scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from senior midfielder Keri Berkowitz. The goal marks the team’s first score of the year.
Nothing could get past sophomore goalkeeper Allison Wagner in this game. She marked a season-high 18 saves on the afternoon. That brings her total to 36 with a saves percentage of 0.947% in the team’s first four outings.
Utica College women’s soccer is now 1-2-1 after four games. They look to keep up the success on the road Tuesday night against Morrisville State College. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
