Tuesday the Men’s Basketball team extended their win streak to 3 games with a win over Ithaca College.
The team is on their biggest winning streak of the season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the season just about to wrap up the Pioneers came into Tuesdays home game with high hopes. They had just come off two solids wins vs Houghton and Alfred, trying to work their way back into the E8 conference tournament race.
The Pioneers returned home Tuesday in game one of their two game home stand to finish out the season. The first half ended with UC training Ithaca 42-35. UC proceeded to come out and score a whopping 40 in the second half.
With only seconds to spare and the game on the line, UC inbounded the ball and Ivan Iton (Ossinning, NY) put up a layup with only two seconds to spare in the game. Iton’s last second layup pushed the Pioneers to a 75-74 win.
Tuesdays last second win brings the Pioneers to a three game win streak with just one game left in the regular season.
If Stevens and Nazareth end up dropping at least one of their next few games, and UC pulls out a win on their last regular season game vs Elmira, The Pioneers would be in great shape for the E8 Conference tournament.
Next game: Home Saturday Febuary 2nd at 4p.m vs Elmira College
