The Women’s Hockey team made the nearly five-hour bus trip down to Annville, PA Tuesday to take on the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchman.  As expected the team was in rather high spirts after coming off a big home win 2-1 against Oswego Saturday at the Aud.

The Pioneers came out to a quick lead as sophomore Lauren Patterson scored the first goal of the game, just 56 seconds after the drop of the puck.  Just a few minutes later Lebanon Valley would bounce back with a goal of their own.

At the end of the first the Pioneers would lead 3-1.  Goals by sophomores Colby Begis and Elizabeth Dohner gave the Pioneers the lead going into the locker room at the end of the first.  The team was all about sharing today, each goal with an assist or two behind them.

The second period opened up with another goal from sophomore Lauren Patterson, assisted by senior Emily Coope and junior Meghan Power making that her second on the day.  Keeping the pressure on the Pioneers struck again for the 5th goal of the day by Kayla Dion.

The team had a great showing on the ice, with penalties at minimum, assists up and goals in an abundance.  Seconds into the third, senior Jane Pagano scored making it, 6-1 Pioneers.  Pagano came back with her second goal of the night at the end of the 3rd to make the score 7-1.

The game ended with the score 7-1 as the Pioneers cruised past Lebanon Valley.  Patterson and Pagano combined for four goals themselves.  The Pioneers move to 9-5 on the season with the win.  Pioneers are having a solid season with some big wins over teams such as Oswego, Potsdam and William Smith.

The team travels to Plattsburgh Saturday and Sunday for their first matchup against the Cardinals this season, both games begin at 3 p.m. The Pioneers have the potential to move up in ECAC West conference standings with a sweep this weekend vs the Cardinals.  Right now, the Pioneers sit at 6 in the conference standings.  After recent performances, the team is very optimistic they can keep up the good work and have a solid showing in the games to come.
